Weddings /Blessings at Westgate in 2009
Westgate was the first ever Church to put its Wedding Services on Ebay. It did this to show we do not believe in charging vast amounts of money for rites of passage such as a Wedding or Blessing. In some ways we see it as helping people to celebrate their love in a way they can afford. We are not happy with the way commercialism often makes a wedding something not spiritual but a debt most couples can do without. Westgate offers its highly professional services to those seeking something spiritual about their wedding. We do not hold a fixed format and the minister will help to make your day special. We will also help to make it affordable for you as individuals. Every couple married here has spoken of how wonderful their day has been. Church conducts 'Same Sex Wedding' also hit the Sussex Express headlines this year . Westgate being the first Church in Lewes to offer same sex couples a place to share their spirituality and be spiritually married in Church. All places of worship were banned from performing Civil Partnerships by law, this is something Westgate objected to.
We are pleased to announce, recent legislation will soon allow same sex couples to register their partnerships at Westgate shortly. This is in line with our Liberal views that already allow us to have no problem with marrying those who for a variety of reasons have become divorced but still seek to find commitment in marriage to a new partner.
